We’re now seeking an exceptional Design Manager to lead, inspire and elevate our design vision across a diverse and fast‑moving product portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to shape product that is mass market, accessible, trend‑relevant and loved by millions.
The Role
Reporting to the GM of Design, Innovation and Sourcing, you will translate global trends, interpreting customer insights and developing commercial strategy into compelling, on‑brand product ranges.
You will lead and mentor a talented team of designers to bridge the gap between creative leadership and commercial strategy, ensuring our designs inspire customers while performing at volume.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Lead product design strategy to deliver commercially viable ranges aligned with SRG’s business objectives.
Trend Authority: Drive seasonal direction for Home Interiors and Sew Fashion; partner with Merchandise teams on forecasting, print direction, and fabric development.
Brand Evolution: Shape private brand direction, working with Buyers and BDMs to develop cohesive "Good, Better, Best" assortments.
Team Management: Mentor and manage a high-performing design team, ensuring all critical path milestones are met.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build effective internal relationships to bring design concepts from initial idea to the retail floor.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record of leading and inspiring design teams.
Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of textiles, fabric development, print placement, and yardages.
Commercial Acumen: Ability to translate global insights into accessible, mass-market ranges that drive sales.
Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD tools, and an interest in emerging AI design tools.
Communication: A confident communicator who can present and influence design concepts across all levels of the business.
Education: Relevant Tertiary qualifications.
