An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Buyer within our Sew and Fabric department. The Sew Centre department comprises of Fabric, Haberdashery, Quilting, Trims and Sewing Machines.  You will be at the forefront of driving the category within your portfolio to brand new heights and will unleash your creativity and expertise as you develop commercially relevant ranges.

 

 

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver clear customer focused category plans to achieve sales and profit target.
  • Build commercially balanced product ranges in line with Company strategy and manage end-to end product lifecycle , including product selection , pricing , marketing , ticketing , VM and promotion.
  • Successfully build and execute merchandise strategies based on in-depth analysis and customer insights to grow sales and profit.
  • Create and manage retail price architecture to ensure competitiveness in market.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Respond to sales and market data to make commercial decisions to maximise sales opportunities and minimise potential future risk.
  • Trade the department , in collaboration with the Business Manager and planner , by optimising profit , maximising sales and proactive marketing and markdown management.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and awareness of competitor and external trends , identifying missed opportunities and trends to maximise revenue.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and our sourcing team.
  • Managing & inspiring your team to achieve success within your category.

 

 

About You:

  • Proven experience as a category manager or Buyer with at least 5 years experience.
  • A degree in either Textiles or Merchandise Buying.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a fast paced, agile environment, with shifting priorities.
  • Specific Apparel, Furnishings or Fabric category experience is a must.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Highly analytical.
  • Extensive negotiation skills and ability to manage tender and sourcing programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Genuine passion for product.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced , team oriented environment.
